Barry was Wesley Gibson's best friend in the office they were working in. Barry had been betraying their friendship by secretly having a relationship with Wesley's girlfriend Cathy, which Wesley knew, but was "... too much of a pussy to do anything about it."
It all changed when Wesley came into work, earlier than usual, didn't act frightened by him sneaking up on him and declining his offer for 'Post-it' notes, surprising him. He became more amazed at how Wesley stood up and insulted their boss, Janice before walking off the job. As he left, with a keyboard in hand, Barry, still amazed, tries to give him a high five, but Wesley, still having some anger and knowing he was screwing with Cathy, struck him unconscious with the keyboard, breaking it, sending some keys out and knocking out a tooth to make the words 'FUCK YOU' before he left, proclaiming 'I'm the man.'
When Wesley showed up at Cathy's apartment a few weeks later, Barry, either sarcastically or truly concerned, asks where he was and proclaimed he missed him, but was knocked down when Wesley pushed the door open. He then watched him kiss a more attractive woman than Cathy before they leave, and Barry proclaims Wesley is 'the man.'
Barry was later surprised when a sniper bullet passed through his energy drink as he and Cathy were heading down a flight of stairs.
